Sunset meditation at an infinity pool overlooking northern Bali

Northern Bali · October 2026

Held by the Flow

A week to decompose into softness. To let the water teach you viscerally what your mind has been trying to grasp. Connecting to your inner wisdom and intuition in wild nature.

A note

This retreat is for the ones who have been holding everything together. The ones who know, somewhere beneath the noise, that it is time to soften into your power.

We gather in northern Bali to dissolve old patterns of holding. Through water, stillness, and the gentle witness of a small circle, you are invited to reconnect with your intuition and your deeper knowing.

For one week we are coming together in community to receive nourishment and surrender to the flow of life. Letting go control can feel scary at times — especially when we are finding ourselves in between versions of ourselves or on a new path of life.

The retreat supports you to find safety within, (re-)establishing trust in your soul’s path and the Divine as your North star, celebrating life.

The Retreat · Bali

Let water be your guide.

For seven days we live simply in a beautiful villa in the lush green hills of Sumberkima. Mornings begin in stillness and gentle yoga practices; the rest of the day unfolds around community connection, exploring different bodies of water on the island, traditional Balinese rituals and healing.

The week is shaped for those releasing an old version of themselves — gently, without urgency. We hold a circle of no more than eight.

The Week, in Detail

What is offered.

  • 01Daily yoga & meditation

Mornings open with slow, somatic yoga and meditation in the open-air shala. Held by Joanna and a guest teacher, made for sensitive nervous systems. Times of sacred silence support a deeper reconnection with yourself.

  • 02Two vegetarian meals and a fresh snack each day

Breakfast and dinner prepared by an excellent team from local produce, with a fresh snack in between. Vegetarian by default, with attention to any dietary needs you share in advance. Throughout the week we will receive a mix of Western and Indonesian cuisine prepared in the restaurants of our Retreat Village with love and care.

  • 03Ensuite room in a shared villa, northern Bali

A bed in a quiet villa in the hills of Sumberkima, each room with its own ensuite bathroom. Private rooms in a separate house are available on request.

  • 04Sharing & connection circles

A small, held space to speak and to listen. No pressure to share, no performance. Guiding questions to allow for deeper reflections and connection.

  • 05Waterfall excursion

A day at Aling Aling waterfall in the North — where the river drops over volcanic stone. We explore different qualities of water, from softness and nourishment to power and pure life force. If your spirit is adventurous you can try out being 'Held by the Flow' in a quite literal sense.

  • 06Balinese water purification ceremony

A water purification and energy healing ritual by a local Balinese priest couple. Traditional offerings are being made and explained, prayers are being spoken and what no longer belongs is gently released. A re-alignment with your natural blueprint.

  • 07Ocean time, coral reforestation & snorkeling with dolphins

An afternoon on the north coast with a local conservation project — snorkelling, and planting baby corals onto reef structures in an underwater art gallery — the ocean is rebuilding. Getting up early in the morning to observe — and potentially snorkel with — pods of dolphins in a gentle, non-intrusive way.

  • 08Airport transfers on retreat days

Private transfer from Denpasar airport on arrival day, and back on departure day. About four hours each way, in air-conditioned comfort.

A Day, Sketched

One day of the week.

A loose shape, not a schedule. Everything is invitation. The island sets the real pace.

  1. 07:30

    Quiet waking

Tea on the veranda. Birds, the last of the night air, no phones.

  2. 08:00

    (Somatic) Yoga in the shala

A slow, breath-led practice. Optional. Held by Joanna and team.

  3. 09:30

    Breakfast

Fresh fruit, warm grains, eggs if you like them. Long table, easy talk.

  4. 11:00

    Excursions, Circle connect, Balinese Ritual

Some days we go to the waterfall, the ocean, or a temple. Other days are blank — for napping, journalling, swimming, doing nothing.

  5. 13:30

    A fresh snack

Cut fruit, coconut, something baked. Eaten where you land.

  6. 16:30

    Circle or self time

A few afternoons we gather to share. Other afternoons stay yours.

  7. 18:30

    Group Dinner

A vegetarian meal cooked from the garden and the market.

  8. 20:00

    Meditation & closing

A short sit, sometimes sound, sometimes silence. Then bed when the body asks.

The House

A villa in the hills.

Open architecture, wood and stone, sunrise views to the ocean and mountains. Shared rooms with ensuite bathrooms, or a private adjacent room on request. The villa is part of a Retreat Village with two local restaurants, a Spa, saunas and cold plunge.

Your Host

Joanna Walton

Joanna has been living in Bali for the last 2.5 years, being fascinated by the local spiritual culture of devotion. The island has supported her to connecting more with the feminine side inside of her, held by the lush green and abundance of 'Mama Bali'. She has been teaching yoga with breaks since 2017, somatic yoga since 2025 and organising retreats since 2023 in Tenerife, Canary Islands and Djerba, Tunisia. She is looking forward to welcoming you to this untouched, precious piece of land to connect deeper to yourself.

Voices from the Circle

What stays after.

I came undone in the gentlest way. Joanna holds a space where you do not have to perform being well — you are just allowed to arrive, slowly, as yourself.

Eline · Amsterdam · 2024 retreat

A week that rearranged something quiet inside me. I am still feeling the effects months later, in how I speak to myself.

Sara · London · 2023 retreat

The pace was the medicine. Nothing was rushed, nothing was forced. The waterfall morning is something I will carry for the rest of my life.

Questions

Things you may wonder.

If something is not answered here, please write. We reply to every note.

  • 01Is this retreat right for me?

It is made for sensitive people in transition — leaving a job, a relationship, a version of themselves. No yoga experience is needed. If you are looking for a high-intensity, party-style retreat, this is not it.

  • 02How do I get there?

Fly into Denpasar (DPS). We arrange a private transfer to the villa on arrival day (about three hours north) and back on departure day. Please book flights only after the date is confirmed.

  • 03What is included in the contribution?

Six nights in a shared ensuite room, all yoga and meditation, two vegetarian meals and a snack daily, the waterfall and ocean excursions, the water purification ceremony, and airport transfers on retreat days.

  • 04What is not included?

Flights, travel insurance, visa fees, additional spa treatments, and any meals or excursions outside the retreat programme.

  • 05Can I have a private room?

A limited number of private adjacent rooms are available on request, for a supplement. Please mention it when you write.

  • 06What if I have dietary needs?

Meals are vegetarian by default. We can accommodate vegan, gluten-free, and most allergies with notice. Let us know when you book.

  • 07What is the deposit and refund policy?

A €555 deposit reserves your place. It is fully refundable if the circle does not gather. After confirmation, the balance is due 60 days before arrival; cancellations after that are non-refundable, though the place can be transferred.

  • 08Will I have phone signal and wifi?

Yes, the villa has wifi. We gently invite you to keep phones away during practice, meals, and circles — but there is no rule.

If it Calls

Write to us.

We answer every message personally. There is no booking funnel — only a conversation, and, if it feels right, an invitation to the circle.
